0025 : Can Curtain e-locker protect data in Network-attached storage (NAS)?
Curtain e-locker can protect data in Network-attached storage (NAS). There are two scenarios below:
- Scenario 1 – If the NAS is mapped to a Windows File Server as a shared resource (e.g. shared folder/drive), Curtain e-locker can be used to protect it by Curtain Server Plug-in (Ref. to FAQ 00192 – How to use Curtain e-locker to protect NAS through iSCSI? ).
- Scenario 2 – If the NAS is directly accessed by users without going through Windows File Server, Curtain e-locker can only protect that NAS by Curtain Client (Ref. to FAQ 00257 – How to use Curtain client to setup protection ?).
P.S. Because most NAS systems are running on Linux and not allow people to install program/software on the NAS . That means we cannot install Curtain Server Plug-in on a NAS storage server.
