You begin by choosing one of our two primary models: Perpetual or Subscription.
1. The Perpetual License Model: Long-Term Ownership
CCTV footage contains confidential data: personal privacy, trade secrets, and—sometimes—national security information. Traditional security measures often leave gaps exploited by external attackers and insiders.
Under the Perpetual Model, you acquire a permanent license for the Curtain e-locker software, which offers long-term stability and value. Your initial purchase automatically includes the First Year Annual Maintenance and Support (AMS) fee, ensuring immediate access to updates and technical assistance. To maintain this essential support, maintenance, and product updates after the first year, a small Annual Maintenance fee is payable each subsequent year.
2. The Subscription-Based License Model: Flexibility and Predictability
For organizations prioritizing operational expenditure and flexibility, the Subscription-base License is an ideal solution. The license is valid for a defined period, typically one year, and requires annual renewal to maintain service. This model is generally priced as a Monthly Fee Per Workstation but is conveniently billed annually. The subscription fee is all-inclusive, covering the license, comprehensive support, and all software updates for the duration of the subscription term.
Determining Your License Requirements
Once your licensing model is selected, you purchase licenses for two distinct areas: your client workstations and your backend systems.
A. Client Workstation Licensing (Per Workstation)
Client-side licenses protect the data on user endpoints and are calculated based on the number of workstations requiring protection. You have the flexibility to purchase a mix of licenses to ensure cost-effective protection across different departments.
Curtain e-locker Office Suite
This license is designed for general use and covers all our supported office applications, such as Microsoft Office, Adobe Reader, and various common utilities. This is the perfect solution for protecting everyday documents and standard business workflows.
Curtain e-locker Universal License
Offering the highest level of coverage, the Universal License secures all our supported applications. This includes the full coverage of the Office Suite, extending protection to specialized and professional software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, and even systems like CCTV monitoring. It is essential for departments handling sensitive, high-value intellectual property or specialized data.
B. Backend System Licensing (Per System Type)
In addition to client licenses, you must purchase the corresponding backend system module for any centralized system that needs to be protected. For example, if you need to secure shared folders on a Windows file server, you must purchase the Curtain e-locker Protector for Windows File Server module.
A significant benefit of our backend licensing is that only one protection module is needed per system type, regardless of how many servers are running that system. This ensures a predictable, one-time cost for securing your entire architecture of that specific system.

To illustrate how to combine these licenses, consider this typical scenario:
A company needs to implement Curtain e-locker to protect shared drives across 5 Windows file servers, secure CAD/CAM files for 20 workstations in the R&D department, and protect general office documents for 100 workstations in other administrative departments.
The Required Licenses Would Be:
- 1 x Curtain e-locker Protector for Windows File Server: This single module is needed for protecting all 5 Windows file servers.
- 20 x Curtain e-locker Universal License: This is required for the R&D department’s 20 workstations to protect specialized CAD/CAM files and all other applications.
- 100 x Curtain e-locker Office Suite: This is required for the other 100 workstations to protect general MS Office and Adobe Reader documents.
